Who we are
We are a new project aiming to document appearances of translation and interpreting in television and film.
What we’re looking at
We’re taking an interest in:
- how accurately translation and interpreting is portrayed on screen
- which real-life translation and interpreting hurdles are portrayed on screen
- how the characters performing translation and interpreting are portrayed on screen
- the differences between how professional vs. non-professional translators and interpreters are portrayed on screen
- any other noteworthy points related to translation and interpreting processes appearing on screen
Our aim is to collect an archive of examples to serve for general information and educational purposes.
If you’re interested like us, then head over to our Instagram and Facebook pages to discover and discuss.
In the future, we hope to launch an online Archive with all examples that we have collected so far.
How You Can Help
We are always looking for extra help to assist with our work. Whether you can offer your time or a small donation of money, please head to the Support page to give us a helping hand.
If you see a translator or interpreter portrayed in a film or TV show, let us know on Info@TranslationOnScreen.org! We want to document as many examples as possible from a wide range of genres.
